About the speaker
Paul Comfort, Esq. has a broad background in public transit and government, with over twenty years’ experience in the transportation industry. In May 2015, he was appointed by Maryland Secretary of Transportation Pete Rahn and confirmed by Governor Larry Hogan as the Administrator/CEO of the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration. Prior to that, Mr. Comfort served for five years as the Director of Operations/Assistant Project Manager at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) MetroAccess Service for MV Transportation. He has also served as the County Administrator for two suburban Maryland Counties, Charles and Queen Anne’s, overseeing all operations for these local governments. As County Administrator for the Charles County Government, Mr. Comfort developed new accountability measures for local government that improved results for key performance indicators of county departments by upwards of 25%. He also oversaw construction of numerous capital projects bringing them in on time and under budget.
